Kynar® PVDF

Arkema’s Kynar® polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) offer excellent chemical resistance, high purity, high thermal stability and low coefficient of friction properties for medical applications. Unlike other fluoropolymers, Kynar® has high tensile strength and excellent resistance to permeation and radiation. A large processing window allows Kynar® to be injection-molded or extruded into clear, flexible films and tubing that are easily heat-sealed. It can also be processed in any process without specially coated metal components.

Available Medical Grades:

Homopolymer Series

KYNAR® 720 MED is a semi-crystalline low molecular weight pelletized polymer of vinylidene fluoride. It is a versatile engineering plastic with an outstanding balance of physical and chemical properties which qualify it for high performance service in a wide range of applications. It is a thermoplastic fluoropolymer capable of being fabricated in standard processing equipment. The molecular weight and molecular weight distribution have been carefully tailored to supply a grade suitable for a variety of processing requirements and end-use applications.

KYNAR® 720 MED is recommended for fine extrusion operations such as monofilament and thin, flat, and blown film. It is also suitable for injection molding applications where very thin cross-sections for intricate design require excellent melt flow characteristics. KYNAR® 720 MED is also suggested for coextrusion of composite constructions and as a base for filled or alloyed KYNAR® compounds.

Kynar Superflex® MED is a fluorinated thermoplastic copolymer. The Superflex® MED has outstanding chemical resistance, imperviousness to I-IV, high barrier properties, high purity, good mechanical properties and is resistant to gamma, steam and ETO sterilization. Moreover, this grade is flexible and suitable in medical tubing and film applications.

Kynar Superflex® 2500-20 MED is available in pellet form for extrusion, injection or compression. This product is tested for USP Class VI and ISO 10993 part 4 and part 5.

Other Available Grades:

Copolymer Series

Kynar Superflex® 2500-20 is a pelletized, semi-crystalline copolymer designed for applications requiring high flexibility. Kynar Superflex® 2500-20 is often used for chemical tubing, wire jacketing, and injection molding.

Kynar Flex® 2800-00 is a pelletized, semi-crystalline VF2 based copolymer. Kynar Flex®  2800-00 has been specifically designed for use in wire and cable constructions and other uses requiring high flexibility and improved resistance to impact. For chemical applications, it can be extruded into sheets and tubing. Kynar Flex® 2800-00 can also be injection molded.

Homopolymer Series

Kynar® 1000 HD is a semi-crystalline medium-high molecular weight pelletized polymer of vinylidene fluoride. It is a versatile engineering plastic with an outstanding balance of physical and chemical properties which qualify it for high performance service in a wide range of applications. It is a thermoplastic fluoropolymer capable of being fabricated in standard processing equipment. The molecular weight and molecular weight distribution have been carefully tailored to supply grades suitable for a variety of processing requirements and end-use applications. Kynar® 1000 HD is appropriate for use in most extrusion applications.
